Welcome to a brand new bridal year and happy new year to you all. January has come and gone everyone seems to feel that January drags after all the bustle of Christmas and new year. However for me it has been a busy time of exhibiting at Wedding fairs and meeting lots of future brides. Also carrying out Bridal hair and makeup trials for some of my brides who’s weddings are coming up in March and April.
My first wedding fair of the new bridal year was at the Royal Agriculture University at Cirencester. A lovely venue with its own chapel if you wanted to use it. This was hosted by the Whitewed Directory who do a wonderful job of all the organisation.
The second one of the year was a showstopper. It was a ‘House of Moods Boards” at Grittleton House, except they weren’t a board they were rooms each displaying a theme that you could walk around take pictures, smell the beautiful floral arrangements that filled the rooms, taste cakes that reflected each style, listen to music, look at wedding dresses that adorned window displays and live models. The inspiration was that of Whitewed Directory who hosted and organised the luxury event. The event took place on a Friday evening and a Saturday. Grittleton House is a beautiful grand manor house, with original feature rooms, take a look at their website and you will see that it is a lovely venue. But what made it all the more impressive and atmospheric was the Whitewed Suppliers, who pull out all the stops and dressed the rooms to create the theme and style that they had been given. The Friday evening was full of candles and twinkling lights giving each room a warm golden glow and a specially homely feel. On Saturday it felt different, yes there were still the twinkling lights and candles on the tables, but in daytime it felt one of celebration and excitement, an anticipation that something special was about to happen. That sort of feeling you get when you attend a wedding and you are anticipating the Bride arriving. Future brides were able to wander around the house ascending and descending the grand staircase, imagining walking down it to meet their future partners for life. They could envisage how their wedding could be layout, what the tables might look like, what sort of floral arrangements could look good on their tables. I was part of a team of hair and makeup artists who each had our own rooms to style our model brides. I was in the Boho room with Hayley of Wilderness Flowers and Matt Fox of Matt Fox Photography and Alex Wood of Burnt Orange hiring large lit up of floral letters as a backdrop to your top table or dance floor.
My beautiful models were Tracey and Lorena. On Friday evening I styled Tracey’s hair as a loose up do with rose buds nestled the back and her makeup was very natural. On Saturday I styled Lorena’s hair as a loose rolled up do with the use of a hair flower crown. Her makeup was a natural look using pink and brown shades. Tracey’s was hair was styled in a low half up half down style with a vine trailing around her hair keeping it very relaxed and boho. Her makeup was a little stronger accenting her blue eyes by bringing in a little navy. I am sure you will agree both very beautiful.
The House of Mood Boards was a success and I would highly recommend that when it happens again you go and take a look. It is very different to a normal wedding fair.
To finish with yesterday, the beginning of February I attend a Bridal Fair at Wellington Barn, Calstone. It was very busy, Wellington Barn is in a beautiful location, it is rustic, yet a stunning venue with everything you need for your special day. It was lovely meeting lots of future brides.
My last Wedding fair of the season will be at Guyers House on March 18th in Corsham so come along and visit, sampling what some amazing suppliers have to offer.
